Purchasing the instrument was made very easy through the intuitive website purchasing mechanism. Product ordered on the Friday and received on the Monday, kept updated on movements throughout the transaction.
Upon receipt of the Guitar it was really well packaged and the courier was on time to the minute!
I then unboxed my new Gibson, which growls like a tiger Dirty and sings like a bird clean, I am absolutely delighted with my new Les Paul Special - you need to get one.
I have to say my overall experience of the purchase was amazing, seamless from start to end and the Guitar had also been set up with new strings.
Phenomenal!!
Bought this to go along with my humbucker equipped Les Paul. The necks a nice slim and comfortable shape and the p90s are very versatile. Clean up nicely or take gain really well for a more punky sound. A good weight, not heavy and a very well made instrument.
Lovely guitar as gibsons always are. No major qc issue apart from all of the control knobs are cracked for some unknown reason. Gibson Europe are very good as usual and sending out a new set. Beautiful sounding guitae with the p90s. Lovely deep cherry finish. Had to tighten truss rod half a turn but this is to be expected. Yes I would definately recommend this guitar
It being 2019 I was very happy to find that DV247 had some of these excellent 2016 models in stock (mine was inspected by Gibson in 2015). They have a particular close to vintage specification and I was resolved to buy a used one before discovering these.
That being the case I was still a bit nervous about buying a quitar that I couldn't see or try but DV247 assured me that I could return it if I was not happy. So I took the plunge and am very happy with the instrument, you do hear sometimes about Gibson quality issues but the one I received is excellent in every way, I haven't needed to touch the set up at all. I don't know if DV247 adjusted anything before dispatch but I can't fault it.
The finish is great, the body is a nice single piece of wood, plays very well indeed and those P90s must be about the easiest pickup to get the tone I hear in my head from. Would I change anything? Well a hard case is an essential additional purchase for a Gibson in my opinion and I am not convinced yet how good or robust those vintage style tuners are but I don't intend to change them unless it proves necessary.
In short the guitar looks great sounds great & feels great.
I had been keeping an eye out for one of these models for a couple years & when they came up at this price it was a no brainer.
After 20 odd years of playing guitar (mostly Fender) this is my first Gibson.
First off the fit & finish are faultless aside the tiny dent on the top of the headstock.... guess these may have happened in transit.... the serial number tells me this guitar was made in 2015 in Nashville then has been shipped around to Germany & then the UK....
Deep red gloss finish with lots of grain on view, binding is a nice touch.
My other guitars are Vintage Fender shortscale & the neck on the Gibson does not feel a huge leap. very comfortable neck, frets feel medium?
The guitar is not heavy & balances well on a strap.
I love the pick ups...... if running your amp on the edge, dial the guitars volume back for sweet cleans & dig in for crunch. The neck pick up does a nice warm jazz if you want it to & the bridge can get a Tele twang. Also sound great with a thick fuzz.
I do wish the guitar came with a hardcase.... Gibson headstock fear.
Overall very very happy.
