The Neumann KH 80 DSP is a 2-way active monitor that can be used in the nearfield range, as a front speaker in small multi-channel systems or as a rear speaker in compact multi-channel systems. Thanks to the Mathematically Modeled Dispersion™ waveguide (MMD™), it offers an optimized frequency response and a broader degree of coverage. The KH 80 DSP has two powerful, completely newly developed power amplifiers with high efficiency and large headroom. They are perfectly matched to the 4" long excursion woofer and the 1" tweeter and deliver a high level with minimized distortion and noise values and optimized transient response. The compact housing made of polycarbonate composite material reduces resonances caused by standing waves and guarantees dry, impulse-response bass reproduction. The fully balanced internal signal processing minimizes electromagnetic interference.

There are numerous switches on the back to adjust the monitor to the acoustic conditions of the installation location. In addition to the input and output level, various presettings can be made to suit the room size. A network interface allows the monitor system to be controlled via a standard IP network using the Neumann.Control software (for PC/Mac or Android/iOS tablets). This even allows free, flexible adjustment via the built-in, fully parametric 8-band equalizer (Manual Alignment).
Thanks to its compact dimensions and versatile options for individual acoustic room adjustment, the Neumann KH 80 DSP is suitable as a nearfield monitor for music and project studios, home recording, video and post-production studios, OB vans and broadcasting applications.
Neumann KH 80 DSPDetailed, balanced and, sometimes, embarrassingly honest. After moving into a smaller space for my home studio/editing suite, I’d struggled for some time with monitors that I’d transferred from a much larger room. As a consequence, most of my critical audio decisions were being made over headphones, which is never a perfect scenario. Having finally decided to sort my monitoring out, I looked for weeks at various small nearfield monitors across a wide spectrum of price points and, having read and listened myself stupid with online reviews (lockdown in place, live auditioning wasn’t an option) I ordered a pair of Neumanns, fully prepared to return them and then continue my search if they didn’t meet my needs. I can only say that, so far, I’m impressed, very impressed. I now have very reliable monitoring that I can work with for extended periods without fatigue. For me, the relatively restricted low end reach of these isn’t a problem, though out of curiosity more than anything else, I’d love to hear them perform in conjunction with their counterpart sub. If you want something that flatters your music or dialogue recordings, then look elsewhere, but if, like me, you’re working in a confined space and need a little auditory truth in your life, put these high on your list!
Very pleased with these speakers after a lot of research, to get better than this you would have to spend A LOT more than this price. Recommended.
