Phoenix Audio GYRATOR/500

The Phoenix Audio Gyrator EQ is an advanced EQ module for the 500 system with stand-alone features: The 4 bands each have three frequency ranges and offer an amazing 16dB of boost/cut. The third band of the treble band is designated Sheen and picks up at 25kHz. This reminiscence of Neve's Air EQ can be used to selectively boost or cut the presence and vibrancy of audio for acoustic instruments, voice or cymbals. In addition, the Phoenix Audio Gyrator-EQ-500 contains a switchable high-pass filter at 80Hz, so that the familiar Pultec-style EQ settings are also possible without any problems; here, the low cut is set and boosted via the bass control in the range below. Especially bass guitars deliver a fat foundation without getting in the way of the Bassdrum.

The newly developed, transformerless input stage of the Phoenix Audio Gyrator-EQ-500 delivers an extremely clean, direct sound. If desired, however, the output transformer developed in-house can be driven into saturation via the output control, so that the user is enabled for the first time to cover the complete sound spectrum from high-clean to warm with one and the same device. This function remains even when the Phoenix Audio Gyrator-EQ-500 is switched to bypass!
