The result of years of research and development, the Gibson Custombucker is the gold standard of the Gibson Custom Shop and is widely regarded as a historically accurate recreation of the legendary 'Patent Applied For' humbucker found in iconic late-1950s instruments. Featuring Alnico III magnets for their warm and rounded tonal qualities, the Custombucker is built following vintage-correct production methods. Its two coils are wound with 42 AWG wire and left unwaxed, with slightly mismatched winding counts to give each pickup its own unique character.
