The 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator is a combination of a six-voice wavetable oscillator and a synth voice. Each voice can have its own pitch setting (with or without a quantiser, as desired), volume and individual waveform. Twelve spherical wavetables are available as standard, with a further 108 that users can add as they wish. Six internal LFOs/envelopes, which also have their own outputs, bring plenty of dynamics to the sonic processes. The six LFOs/envelopes draw on a pool of at least thirteen typical waveforms and twelve ‘Complex Shapes’; they can, incidentally, be synchronised to the clock and adjusted per voice using their own dividers or multipliers.
The 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator offers the ability to generate new waveforms internally from input audio material. Alternatively, the free SphereEdit software, which runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, can be used to transfer new waveform material into the module via an audio cable.
It should now be clear that the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator has a great deal to offer. The sonic density generated by the six voices is remarkable. Furthermore, the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator is far more than just a rich drone synth – although it certainly is that – but the harmonic intervals between the individual oscillators result in a very musical interplay overall. As each voice has its own VCA, the term ‘synth voice’ is more than justified.
