With the PRS SE Standard 22 Vintage Cherry Paul Reed Smith presents an affordable electric guitar from the SE series, whose design and features are based on his standard models from 1985. Accordingly, the guitar, designed as a straightforward workhorse for studio and stage, has a full mahogany construction which, in combination with two humbuckers, provides a classical sound spectrum.
With its mahogany body and glued mahogany neck, the Paul Reed Smith SE Standard 22 delivers a warm primary tone with a distinct mid-range and woody timbre that serves a wide variety of musical styles. The neck has the proven "Wide Fat" profile, which comfortably fills the hand, so that both classical and modern techniques can be used with ease when playing the guitar. The classic PRS Bird inlays in the rosewood fingerboard also ensure perfect orientation between the 22 frets.
The electrical sound conversion of the PRS SE Standard 22 is performed by two pickups developed by Paul Reed Smith. The PRS-Designed Standard Treble Humbucker on the bridge, for example, convinces with its powerful sound, the emphasis of which lies on the midrange and thus guarantees equal assertiveness for clean or distorted tones. The PRS-Designed Standard Bass Humbucker on the neck, on the other hand, delivers a warm sound with fat low end, vocal mids and a silky soft treble spectrum that makes every note sing. The pickups are controlled by a 3-way toggle switch as well as master volume and master tone controls.
