A true studio standard for vocals and instruments

The Shure SM7B is a cardioid dynamic microphone with a frequency response of 50 to 13,000 Hz (@ -3 db). It is ideal for vocal or speech recordings. Due to its exceptionally clear and warm reproduction, the SM7B has already made a name for itself in numerous radio stations and has also found its way into countless music studios as a vocal microphone. With its dynamic design, it is also very popular as a microphone for miking guitar and bass amplifiers.

Absolute classic

The SM7B is an absolute classic among dynamic microphones and an excellent choice for studio, broadcast and live applications.

Caution: The microphone has a very low output level*, so a powerful, low-noise preamplifier should be used, especially when recording vocals. The preamps built into most audio interfaces are not sufficient for this. A common method is to use a small plug-on preamp or inline preamp. Alternatively, an external preamp with high gain reserves such as the ART Tube MP, the Black Lion Audio B12A or a Neve clone from Warm Audio or Golden Age Project is recommended. In order to utilise the full potential of the Shure SM7B, you should not cut corners here!

*In fact, this is not because the SM7B is a large diaphragm microphone, as is often wrongly assumed, but because the microphone does not have an output transformer, which is normally used to boost the level.

All in

To suppress low-frequency noise, the Shure microphone is equipped with a low-cut filter and also has a presence boost. Both filter functions can be operated via a switch plate on the rear of the SM7B. The integrated, air-cushioned shock absorber prevents almost any mechanical transmission. Also on board are two windscreens, which can be replaced as required and ensure clean recordings without plosive sounds. The robust swivelling mount enables precise positioning with a secure hold.
