Neuzeit Instruments’ Warp is a powerful digital synth voice playable polyphonically with up to four independent voices. It combines additive and wavetable synthesis with high-quality digital filters, internal envelopes, LFOs, and detailed sound-shaping controls. Each primary control has its own CV input, while all other parameters are accessible via macros and internal modulations. At the center of the module, the animated “galaxy” visually represents AI-generated waveforms and sound spectra, providing a striking visual cue for your sound design.
Warp features a colored XY LED matrix at the heart of the interface, representing a 32×16 frequency spectrum from which the synth draws its sounds. Each of Warp’s four voices can move freely and independently within this XY space. Surrounding frequency spectra are used in real time to calculate wavetables from 512 sine waves via additive synthesis. By navigating the XY space, you can create evolving and unconventional wavetable sounds, playable with four voices and eight oscillators, and navigable in two directions. An intuitive built-in editor allows you to craft your own frequency spectra directly.
The integrated SPEC effects enable real-time filtering and deformation of the frequency spectrum before wavetable calculation. Warp effects such as Wavefolder, PWM Bend, Overdrive, and Redux further sculpt the resulting wavetable. Each voice uses two oscillators derived from the wavetable, which can be detuned or synchronized, and passes through high- and low-pass filters (12/24 dB/octave) for further tonal shaping.
Warp’s editor lets you draw and manipulate frequency spectra directly on the XY sound canvas. Various drawing algorithms allow precise editing of individual or grouped harmonics. Frequency spectra can also be derived from audio samples on an SD card or entire wavetable audio files can be placed into the XY space. The XY sound area can be exported to SD card as wavetable files of any length or bit depth, making Warp a versatile wavetable generator for other synthesizers.
Two internal ADSR envelopes and two LFOs can be routed to multiple destinations via the color-coded modulation matrix. Pulsating LEDs visualize each modulation, making complex routings easy to track and adjust. Warp thus combines AI-assisted sound generation with highly interactive control for truly expressive synthesis.
