The centre piece of this set is the TD-30 sound module which produces the Super NATURAL sounds with help from "Behaviour Modelling". This produces an extremely precise and powerful playback of all strikes, regardless if on the Toms, snare, cymbals or kick. A professional V-Edit mode makes it easy to produce custom sounds. With the USB port back-ups can be saved and even WAV and MPS audio file formats can be played back. Via a second, separate USB port the module can be connected to a computer.
Even the pads have be modified, so now the Toms and Snare pads feature a new rim sensor, which can differentiate dynamic stages and rim-shots even better. The mesh heads can be adapt via tuning screws to the desired hardness for your best way of drumming. The V-Drum Bass Kick Pad is with a size of 14" quite large and offers a dynamic and natural feeling. Just like with its ancestors, the shell wraps can be replaced to give the set a personalized flavour.
The new cymbal pads come in a new metallic grey finish and promise accurate triggering over the entire playing surface. The HiHats have a size of 13 "and have an extremely sensitive motion function, what captures and converts perfectly the opening and closing of the HiHat. The crash cymbal pads and the ride cymbal pad are able to mimic the vibration and sound behavior of conventional cymbals perfectly. As usual, you can produce different sounds by playing on the edge or on the clubface. The Ride Cymbal has even a third trigger zone that can be controlled through the dome.
The MDS-25 drum rack is own built for the set and delivers all parts and best quality and stability for the TD-30KV. There is no clutter through the possibility to insert all cables into the rods. The MDS-25 is with its chrome finish similar to acoustic racks and prodvides a perfect look.
Please Note: Pictured is a set example! Kick Pedal, Snare Stand and Hi-Hat Stand are not included!
This is the best Roland i ever played in my life. In fact, this is one of the
best e-drums on the market.
First impression was the feel. That is one sturdy badboy, where you can beat
it, and it wont even budge. That is one awesome rack, sturdier than most of the
ones i played on acoustic sets. The V-pads are over-bouncy, but they are closest
to the real thing you will get. The cymbal pads are the most rewarding thing on
the kit, they manage to feel real, specially the hi-hat.
The brain. Every one knows that Roland, as opose to Alesis and Yamaha that use
real drum samples, they are synthetic. But that isnt a dawnfall, bat in reverse,
theres more ways you can edit the sound. You have 100 kits out of the box, but
the way you exploit the sounds on that are limited only to the borders of ones
imagination.
This is a professional tool, and a pricey one. I simply cant afford a beast
like this, but if i had the chance, i would get one of these. I had the luck to
toy arroud with one and i must be sincere on this, before i even touched this
kit, i never had much love for Roland. The
costs are high, but the reward is simply worth it.
One more note: For live situations, this is amped only by the AUX-OUT of the
Module. You can make the sound go through a mixing table before they reach the
amps, but you will only work with 2 sound channels, in other words, unlike the
acoustics, you cant record sounds individually. Snare, cymbals,
bass, tom-toms go all on the same channel, but as for me in find no problem
there, unlike some sound engineers i met in my life. Just my 2cents
This is an amazing Ekit, Ive played many in the past and owned several but this is above and beyond anything. It is very close to the feel of a real drum set, The USB computer connection is brilliant for using it for recording with DAWS.
The TD 30 module has extremely impressive sounds and I would have no problems playing this kit in a live situation!
