Catalyst Audio Model 110

VCA module

Catalyst Audio Model 110 is a VCA module for modular synthesizers in Eurorack format. The module is based on Model 110 from the Buchla 100 series and is a non-linear VCA with four independent channels. Due to the unbalanced power supply, it has a distinctive characteristic which is approximately exponential in the lower third, almost linear in the second third and almost logarithmic in the upper third when the saturation of the signal begins. Since the module is not based on Vactrols, it has a fast response time, which is required for amplitude modulation in the audio range.

Buchla 100 series

The Buchla 100 series is the best known representative of the "West Coast synthesis" and was developed by Don Buchla in the sixties. Catalyst Audio's modules are true to original reproductions of the originals and are built completely discreetly from hand-picked components.
