Inertia from New Systems Instruments is a complex function generator based on the idea of Serge's DUSG, but capable of much more. The module primarily offers the two modes Rise/Fall (orange) and Skew (blue), which first determines which functions Inertia should cover. Thanks to wide-ranging parameters and comprehensive CV control with partly bipolar attenuators, not only additional functions are opened up but also complex modulations and interactions with which new music can be made in the truest sense of the word. Depending on whether a gate signal arrives, a CV or audio signal is applied to the input, selected range and mode, Inertia is able to act as an oscillator, LFO, Lowpass filter, attack/decay envelope, Phase locked loop, VC slew limiter, frequency divider or percussion generator. Basically, two inertias and a VCA are enough to create complex sounds in a modular context.
