Limited special edition of the flexible analog flanger

With the Walrus Audio Kamakura Series Polychrome, the creative effects company from Oklahoma City is launching a strictly limited special edition of its analogue Flanger with a particularly versatile sound spectrum. Depending on the setting of the clearly structured controls, the strikingly designed effect pedal delivers subtle flanging to discreetly broaden the sound or dramatic walls of sound for expressive guitar playing.

Two voicings, three waveforms

At the heart of Walrus Audio's Kamakura Polychrome is an analog Flanger circuit that holds two characterful voicings. In the lower position of the Voice switch, the pedal delivers a traditional sound with full coverage of the frequency spectrum. The upper position of the switch, on the other hand, represents a modern flanging sound with high complexity due to Notch Filter. Three waveforms for the LFO also promise characterful sound experiences.

Precise sound adjustment

In addition to the usual Rate and Depth controls for effect speed and effect depth, the Walrus Audio Polychrome offers extensive options for precisely adjusting the sound. The Sweep control influences the frequency range that the Flanger passes through. The feedback pot, on the other hand, determines the portion of the signal that is fed back into the effect circuitry, so that both rather subtle sound colorations and dramatic effects can be implemented.

D-F-V

A highlight of Walrus Audio's Polychrome analogue Flanger is also the D-F-V control, which affects the ratio of effect to dry signal. When turned to the left, only the dry clean signal (Dry, D) is available at the output jack, to which the effect can increasingly be mixed. Turned up fully, the clean signal is completely bypassed, so that a first-class vibrato effect is heard.

Smart Momentary Bypass Switch

The Walrus Audio Polychrome's Smart Momentary Bypass Switch also allows expressive guitar playing. When pressed briefly, the footswitch will permanently turn the effect on or off as usual. If the switch is held down for a long time, the effect is temporarily turned on until the foot is removed from the switch. Thanks to True Bypass, the Polychrome passes the guitar signal unaltered when switched off.
