L.R.Baggs Para Acoustic DI Preamp/ EQ/ DI-BoxI was very disappointed in the sound from both my acoustic guitar and my violin, despite spending a fair bit of money on the pickups for each of them. You can't make a terrible pickup sound good with this preamp, but as long as you're starting with a good quality source, the Para Acoustic box will give you much more control over the sound and the results will be far better. It didn't take me long to get a good sound from my acoustic instruments, and I'm sure I can do even better once I am more accustomed to the controls. One thing that would make the unit better would be a way to save the settings, but that would make it digital and put the price up, of course. LR Baggs gear ain't cheap, but to some extent, as the cliche goes, you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.
