Beyerdynamic is a medium-sized company in the electro-acoustic sector based in Heilbronn and is one of the best-known equipment manufacturers in the field of audio technology. Beyerdynamic has subsidiaries in England and the USA.
The company's segments include conference systems and interpreting equipment, microphones and headphones for professional use on theatre, concert or musical stages and broadcast, video, studio & production (microphones, headphones and audio-visual combinations for professional use in the studio, radio or television) and consumer products (hi-fi headphones for consumers).
In June 2006, the company expanded its range into the aviation sector with microphones, headphones and headsets for pilots.
In 1924 Eugen Beyer founded beyerdynamic in Berlin. Due to the destruction of the factory and machinery during the Second World War, the company relocated to Heilbronn in 1948. The success goes back primarily to the 1930s. In 1937, the first dynamic headphones, the DT 48, were produced. Two years later, the first studio-ready dynamic microphone (M 19) followed, which the Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft (RRG) used as a standard device for broadcasting.
Even after the end of the Second World War, beyerdynamic asserts itself on the market for professional studio technology. In the private sector of hi-fi and consumer electronics, their headphones belong to the reference class. In addition, beyerdynamic developed loudspeakers for cinema halls.
