Gretsch G5021E Rancher Penguin Shell PinkI'm gonna be totally honest: I bought this guitar primarily for how it would look on stage. Decent Fishman pickup system and it's a Gretsch so I was guessing it wouldn't be too shabby. But anyway, it's just a Parlor guitar with laminate back and sides so I guess it wouldn't sound that impressive. Right? Wrong! Not only does this guitar look gorgeous, it also sounds absolutely gorgeous. It produces a sort of natural delay sound that I find absolutely enthralling. My producer has a recording studio with dozens of expensive guitars including a very expensive Martin dreadnought. And I have to say, I'd pick this Gretsch over it. It has a very distinct personality. It might not sound as loud and sure it might not be known for the amazing tonewoods it sports but goddamn does it sound amazing. And on top of the that, it's not a very expensive guitar at all. As for setup, pretty decent. Perfect fretwork, nice action out of the box. It might need a slight truss rod adjustment but I didn't bother and it's okay. So I'd say, if you have 500€ to spend and you like that classic Gretsch look, go for it. You won't regret it.
