The ESP LTD M-1 Custom '87 Candy Apple Red is an authentic recreation of the electric guitar that helped the Japanese company achieve a worldwide breakthrough in the rock and metal scene in the mid-1980s. Accordingly, the M-1 Custom '87 offers an elaborate neck-thru design that features a three-piece maple neck and alder body wings. The fluent neck transition and the extremely smooth "Extra Thin U"-neck profile allow for unlimited playability over all 24 frets of the macassar ebony fretboard, which furthermore features offset block inlays and a 1987 logo marking the frets. A Seymour Duncan Distortion humbucker provides the appropriate rock and metal sound. Its high output elicits well defined drive sounds from the amplifier. In addition to the coil-split option for authentic single-coil sounds, the ESP LTD M-1 Custom '87 also offers an active EMG PA-2 booster, which draws rich distortion from even the weakest amp. The ESP LTD M-1 Custom '87 is a real metal axe in the '80s style and features a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo for unrestrained whammy bar acrobatics without detuning.
