Steinberg updates its mastering software Wavelab to version 10 and significantly improves the user-friendliness. Wavelab Elements is aimed at musicians, podcasters and journalists and only omits the functions relevant to professional mastering such as live recording, external effects busses and integration of external software.

Video producers can rejoice, because Wavelab now also supports video playback, so that their audio material can be edited and processed directly in Audio Montage. Video files can be imported simply by dragging and dro pping, and Wavelab adaptsdeviating sample rates of the audio material to the current Montage.

Steinberg has also redesigned the Effect Tool window (now called Montage Inspector): The section has been brought into line with the Master section in terms of appearance and operation and is now much clearer - the name of the selected clip is displayed in the Inspector and highlighted in Montage - and allows direct access to the effects slots and each individual gain value.

For a more transparent workflow sorgt now provides complete documentation of all editing steps in a Re-/Undo History. This means that any editing step of any section can be completely undone or redone without affecting the rest of the audio material (reference track integration is only available in the Pro version).
