The Latin Percussion LP559X-1BK Fibreglass Patato Conga Drum is a conga drum, made from fibreglass, with a height of 30", a raw leather drum head, and a black finish. The late Carlos “Patato” Valdez’ had a remarkable career and ground-breaking multi-conga technique that has inspired countless drummers, percussionists, and music lovers. His contribution to Latin music includes a unique “melodic” approach to conga playing, and has enabled his legacy to live on through his music. Latin Percussion have honoured Carlos with the LP559X-1BK.
Played by professional congueros the world over, this fiberglass drum was developed in 1978 with “Patato”, who required tall drums with a wide belly and small bottom that could project deep bass tones and great volume without sacrificing crisp, high sounds. They have the same shape as the Galaxy Fiberglass Congas, which are perfect for any style of music and sound great live. A 30" fiberglass shell with a steel ring embedded at the bearing edge for added strength and stability, is combined with a 11-3/4" natural rawhide head and Comfort Curve II Rims.
