The Palmer Monicon XL is an active studio monitor controller with an ergonomic console design and two clearly structured sections, allowing you to switch intuitively and quickly between different signal sources and speakers. This efficient control centre is the perfect solution for all standard studio requirements and features three analogue stereo inputs, an S/PDIF input and outputs for three pairs of monitors, each with its own volume control for level balancing. Furthermore, an additional mono-summed full-range output allows you to connect either a mono monitor or a subwoofer. However, the Monicon XL Controller’s standout feature is its correlation meter, which displays the phase difference between the left and right channels of a stereo signal – ideal for quickly troubleshooting mono compatibility issues in a mix.
Not to be overlooked is the fully analogue audio circuitry, which exhibits absolutely no latency or signal colouration. It also features two headphone outputs with volume controls , as well as main cue selectors, a cue master control and a talkback microphone that can be switched on and has adjustable volume . Also on board: a mute switch and a dim button with a volume control, which reduces the monitor level by a preset amount in an instant. All in all, therefore, far more than just a simple monitor controller!
