The Telefunken M82 Dynamic Microphone is a large diaphragm dynamic microphone that is best suited and designed for kick drums, but can also be used with other applications like vocals, percussion, guitar and bass amps, producing really great results making this a versatile microphone.
The M82 is hand-assembled in the USA and is ruggedly built, and within this tough mic is a 35mm large diaphragm and is particularly good at recording lower frequencies. This is an end-address microphone, meaning that the top end of the mic is the recording source, and the M82 features two separate EQ switches, namely Kick EQ and High Boost. The EQ settings work independently from each other which means four unique settings can be achieved, yielding more options for the type of signal you are recording.
The Kick EQ reduces frequencies around the 350Hz region, which is generally the region that is responsible for boxy or muddy sounding bass, and in turn producing a tighter bass representation. The High Boost will increase the higher frequency range starting from about 2kHz and ending at about a 6dB increase by 10kHz, this will ensure more attack and airiness in your recordings, but is also great for vocal or guitar amp recordings.
The M82 produces a full and powerful kick recording, but when placed inside a kick drum will also ensure that all the attack and resonance is kept in the recording, negating the need for multiple microphones to get a full picture of the kick drum.
The M82 comes with a microphone stand mount adapter and a useful protective zipper bag.
