Twisted Electrons Crazy 8 is a compact 8-track step sequencer for modular Eurorack synths and other synthesizers with gallant operation without submenus.
Altogether 4 monophonic tracks are available for CV/Gate as well as 4 additional polyphonic MIDI tracks including chord function. On the back of the little Frenchman there are no less than 8 analog jacks (4x CV/Gate) as well as 2 MIDI outputs and one MIDI input for the connection to the outside world. There are also analog sync jacks, which are designed like MIDI in the Crazy 8 as mini jacks.
There are 16 steps per pattern, whereby 8 patterns can be concatenated for up to 128 steps. All tracks can be independent, fast and of different lengths. The sequences can be played backwards, alternately or randomly. A special feature, however, are the duty and crazy functions, with which e.g. notes are played or not played to a certain probability or sequences are supplemented by further notes to an adjustable probability. Designed for live operation, mute and transpose buttons are available, which are easy to reach. An 8-step swing function including 2 modes provides the right groove. Data can be transferred and saved via SYSEX.
Great sequencer - I use it with my modular stuff so 4 CV outputs were essential for me, all other functions are pretty straightforward and well described in the manual - the only thing that I might lack personality is velocity setting. Firmware is still a bit unstable - in the first week found a bug and Twisted Electrons fixed it really quick and provided firmware update.
