Product information - Black Corporation Deckard’s Dream MkII

8-voice desktop clone of the Yamaha CS-80

Black Corporation Deckard’s Dream MkII

Black Corporation from Japan presents Deckard's Dream MkII, the modern new version of the popular classic Yamaha CS-80 and at the same time the second generation of this exceptional synthesizer. The eight-voice synthesizer convinces with a fully analog signal path and two layers per voice, which can be adjusted in parallel on the control panel with faders. Each voice is composed of two (per layer) oscillators with square wave with PWM, sawtooth and sine, 12 dB low pass and high pass filters with resonance, two ADSR for filter & VCA as well as sophisticated control for these elements via keyboard, velocity, pitch bend and aftertouch. Crossfading between both layers is possible, in unison mode it gets really powerful with 16 oscillators. Thanks to the autotune function, the tone generators always remain correctly tuned. A global filter completes both layers of a voice. Pitch bend and aftertouch are even processed and output polyphonically, one of the special features of its 1977 predecessor! The Black Corporation Deckard's Dream MkII differs from the first version by the much flatter cabinet, making the Deckard's Dream finally desktop-ready. Since wooden side panels and 19" rack angles are included, one has the choice of where to place this gem.

Anyone who knows the movie "Blade Runner" and appreciates it for its timeless film music will be delighted with Deckard's Dream and knows where the instrument got its name. Likewise, many works of the composer Vangelis were recorded and immortalized with the Yamaha CS-80.

From 1977 to today:

Gone are the days when the 100-kilo Yamaha CS-80 colossus had to be moved in exceptional cases and you had to make do with four "memory slots": the slimmed-down, rack-compatible desktop housing of the Deckard's Dream MkII accommodates all sound-relevant parameters of the original. With modern technology, comfortable 256 memory locations and conveniences like an OLED display, software editor via USB, full MIDI control and alternative keys, you get a wonderful successor to a timeless classic at hand.
