Since its initial introduction in 1985, the Custom 24 has been the standard model in both the Core and SE Series from PRS, making it a timelessly reliable electric guitar with modern appointments and sturdy construction. Equipped with two PRS proprietary 85/15 humbucker pickups, the Custom 24 delivers a clear tone with extended highs and lows at the amp. Furthermore, the Custom 24 in radiant McCarty Tobacco Sunburst is equipped with a PRS Gen III tremolo and matching PRS locking tuners, a combination that promises high tuning stability even under a lot of tremolo pressure.

PRS 15/85 pickups deliver a modern and defined humbucker tone without caps

Sound design with 85/15 humbucker pickups.

The 85/15 pickups are inspired by the original pickups of the 1985 model and are installed in this model with modern improvements since 2015. Due to the 5-way switching, both humbuckers can convince with their warm sounds with pronounced highs as well as with high dynamics in the coil split function easily via the push/pull Tone control. The PRS Gen III tremolo system with the associated locking mechanisms stabilizes the sound image and is easy to operate through the ergonomic arm.

Features and composition

PRS relies on tried-and-true tonewoods for the Custom 24 in McCarty Tobacco Sunburst #0352055, thus assembling the body and neck of the electric guitar from set resonance-friendly mahogany. The curly maple top shines with Natural binding in yellow McCarty Tobacco Sunburst and Nitro-Over-CAB finish. The Pattern-Thin neck profile feels comfortable in the hand, making for easy movement across the 24 frets of the rosewood fingerboard. This is of course also equipped with beautiful PRS-typical Bird inlays in a mother-of-pearl look.
