The UP 400 RW from Gewa is a very pleasantly playable digital piano in a classic cabinet design with a high-quality rosewood finish. The instrument, which is manufactured in Germany, has a zone-weighted 88-key hammer action keyboard in real wood with ivory-touch surface, which provides an excellent playing feel. The digital sound generation provides over 30 different sounds and additionally 128 GM (General MIDI) sounds, the piano samples are based on the popular Steinway D-274 concert grand piano. 16 memory locations are available for your own sound settings. With the Grand Piano Ambient Simulation, natural background noises such as string resonance, pedal and keyboard noises can be simulated and integrated just like on a real concert grand piano. 256 Voices make the UP 400 BK fully polyphonic playable. The 3-way loudspeaker system with a total of 6 Visaton speakers (2x bass, 2x mid-range 2x treble) and Class-D amplifier clearly stands out from the other models of the DP/UP series and provides an even more realistic sound experience. The editable reverb and modulation effects also contribute to this. The intuitive touchscreen display provides plain text information for each process and is operated like a smartphone. This also includes the "user calibration tool" with which the keyboard behaviour can be adapted to your own requirements. Details such as the 4th hand mode, a recording function and a metronome with selectable rhythms are the perfect learning and playing aid. In addition, a playback function for MP3 files via USB stick is offered and, if required, the Gewa UP 400 RW can be connected to another audio system via Bluetooth, for example. When the digital piano is not in use, the key cover can be pulled out to protect the keys from dust and dirt, and the music holder can also be folded down.
Thanks to two headphone outputs, it can be played and practised undisturbed at any time of the day, even in duets. With the MIDI inputs and outputs the UP 400 RW can be used as a keyboard for other sound generators, but can also be controlled as an expander. The MIDI connection can also be made via USB. Stereo outputs connect the digital piano to a mixing console, an audio interface or your home stereo system. The stereo input is intended for connecting e.g. a smartphone or CD player and integrating the music from it into the exercises.
