Octave Fuzz with three clipping voicings
The EarthQuaker Devices Fuzz Master General is an analogue octave fuzz pedal whose circuit design was inspired by the classic Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2 Professional. Compared to its historical predecessor, the pedal offers an extended fuzz control range, spanning from comparatively subtle sounds right through to heavily distorted fuzz. The Voice switch provides three different clipping variants: Germanium provides an open and looser fuzz character, whilst silicon delivers a more compressed and tighter response. In the middle position, the clipping diodes are bypassed, resulting in a significantly cleaner octave-up effect with a ring modulation-like character. The tone control is complemented by a continuously variable Tone control, which allows the signal to be adjusted from bright and open to darker, more hollow sounds. Level controls the output volume, whilst the Fuzz control determines the intensity of the distortion.
