Get the Queens of the Stone Age sound with Josh Homme's signature combo
The Peavey Josh Homme Decade Too Combo at a glance:
With the Decade Too, Peavey is bringing back a genuine cult amp that has been reworked and expanded together with Josh Homme. The frontman of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal made the Peavey Decade, originally released in the 1980s, his insider tip with a much-noticed YouTube interview. Now the characterful transistor combo returns in the form of a 10-watt solid-state amp with numerous modernizations and delivers exactly the raw, powerful sound that characterized Homme's playing on albums such as Songs for the Deaf or Lullabies to Paralyze.
Pre- and post-gain controls, 3-band EQ with controls for low, mid and high, bass and top enhancement switch
Fuzzy roar cube with plenty of power
Inside the handy combo is an 8" Celestion speaker trimmed for sound, reminiscent of the coveted old Rola speakers. The combination of pre- and post-gain controls as well as a saturation switch enables a rich, tube-like distortion with long sustain, which is perfect for everything from crunchy power chords to fuzzy leads. The revised 3-band EQ deserves special attention, which has been expanded with two additional switches for bass enhancement and top enhancement. While the former gives the sound a rich bass boost and pushes the mid-frequency upwards, the top enhancement switch provides raised treble frequencies in the style of an old AM radio.
FX loop, XLR line out with Speaker-Simulation and preamp out
The amplifier also offers far more functionality than its vintage predecessors. A buffered FX loop, footswitch connectionsforsaturation and effects loop, XLR line out with speaker simulation, a phase switch for feedback experiments, a preamp out and optional expansion cabinets make the Decade Too the ideal recording and live amp. Weighing just 5 kg, it is also easy to transport and offers enormous sound flexibility at home or in the rehearsal room. If you need even more punch, you can upgrade the amp with the optional Decade Too Extension Cabinet and chrome-plated stand. Both visually and sonically, the Decade Too Combo is a versatile amplifier that is not only suitable for beginners - professionals will be just as well served with these numerous features!
