2U rackmount system with Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module
The xMac mini (2024+) 2U rackmount system with integrated Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module is the logical rack solution for anyone who wants to use the Mac mini professionally in audio, video and broadcast environments. It combines the computing power of one or two Mac mini with true PCIe expandability and modern Thunderbolt 5 performance in a compact, road-ready 2U chassis.
Mac mini meets true PCIe expansion
At the heart of the system is the Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module, identical to the desktop version and fully integrated into the rack. Two full PCIe 4.0 slots are available, each connected via its own Thunderbolt 5 interface. Each card receives its full PCIe bandwidth of up to 6000 MB per second. Ideal for DV I O cards, audio DSP systems, fast network cards or PCIe storage without compromises.
Modular 2U rack design for professional setups
The robust steel housing has a modular design and offers space for one or two Mac mini of the current generation. In addition, two mounting slots for external Thunderbolt or USB SSDs are available directly under the Mac minis. An open expansion compartment accommodates the Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module and can also be fitted with other Sonnet expansion modules if required.
Full performance even in rack operation
The thermal design is consistently tailored to the Mac mini. An open rear, targeted air routing and free ventilation paths ensure that the computers can also deliver their full performance in the rack at all times. WiFi and Bluetooth continue to work reliably in most rack setups without external antennas.
Direct access and simple operation
There are separate power buttons for each Mac mini on the front. The front computer offers direct access to its front connections. A USB C port on the front provides the connection to the rear Mac mini, while a cable feed-through allows clean access to both systems from the front. All modules can be pulled out and are secured with knurled screws, which makes maintenance and conversions much easier.
Thunderbolt 5 as the backbone of the system
The integrated Echo II DV module uses Thunderbolt 5 as a high-speed connection between Mac mini and PCIe cards. Depending on the setup, the two slots can be connected via one or two Thunderbolt cables. With two ports with their own PCIe bus, the maximum bandwidth is available to each slot. Alternatively, operation via a single cable is also possible.
Power supply and mobility
A single power cable supplies one or two Mac minis and the expansion module. Vibration-damped holders protect the computer and cards during transportation. The system can be securely mounted in racks with a depth of 16 to 24 inches using the pull-out rack rail supplied. With an installation depth of around 16.5 inches, it fits easily into mobile racks and flight cases and just as reliably into standard server racks.
Built for studio, broadcast and mobile racks
The xMac mini (2024+) 2U rackmount system with Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module is aimed at professional users who demand maximum performance, true PCIe expandability and clean rack integration. or control room, post-production, OB van or mobile production rack, this system turns the Mac mini into a fully-fledged PCIe workstation in rack format.
