This is a very useful trick to semplify guitar modding.
You connect a 4 wire ground humbucker to this frame and you have coil splitting (with the possibility to chose south or north coil, or you can call theme inner outer coil) or humbucker series/parrallel.
With 2 of this frame you have 4 sounds for each humbucker and a total 16 sounds for the 2 of them (not that there is real difference between some of them). Then you still have the possibility to put a pushpull pot and have phase out of phase of the two humbuckers or whatever coil is selected.
