At that time, the development team felt that vintage and some contemporary synthesizers lacked the innovative spirit associated with these instruments from decades before. The Modal 002 marked a milestone in synthesizer history, as it was a reinterpretation of what a synthesizer should be in those days. It was the first poly-digital/analogue hybrid synthesizer with a transistorized ladder filter (like Minimoog). The first with a memory for 10,000 sounds and an Ethernet connection to access an integrated web server for editing all parameters. Today the 00 series is legendary and its heritage inspires the entire Modal product line.

In 2018, the two desktop synthesizers SKULPT and CRAFTsynth 2.0 were introduced, which offered a high density of functions in a compact space and at the same time were easy to use with the fantastic sound of the big 00 models. One year later (2019) the product portfolio was extended by the ARGON8 family. With the experience gained, it was now possible to deliver a new wavetable synth with the unmistakable modal sound. With a lot of commitment and love for detail the manufacturer succeeds again and again to inspire with fresh ideas.
