I sold my first unit of the Perfourmer over a year ago for financial reasons, and I missed it up till now. So I did not hesitate to buy it again, and even new, because it is one of those synthesizers that will stay in the studio for sure, and its actually worth the price :)
The Perfourmer has a great soundingg voice,or rather 4 of them, very similar to the Juno106. A very bright, clean and harmonic voice. Its build up out of 4 seperate mono synths, comparable to the little brother Mono Lancet, but with extra functionality. Each voice can be edited and worked seperately, with their own Envelope, filter and modulation for each voice ! While it might not be very handy for live setups, this instrument is great for the home studio, and you can spend loads of time just be going thorugh the sound pallet and looking for sounds.
It does not sound dirty and is not really a synth for excessive experimental use, even if you can alreaady go a long way with what it offers, it kind of remains a normal synthesizer. It has LFO and Pulse width modulation , but does not go beyond the basic modulation options of most synths. This however does not really bother me much, and the sound and build make up for this. The device is very well constructed and for the features it has it is very fairly priced. The Poly / Mono adjustability is also great, sweet sync options and it has sines, I love sines :) I think the perfourmr is a synth which offers things youve probably already seen on many other synthesizers, but still it manages to be very unique in its own way. It is capable of doing some really organic and living patches, musical and beautiful harmonics, or classic synth sounds like the forementioned vintage Juno synths from roland. One of the minor things for me is maybe the resonace, which seems a bit flat, and doesnt do much except for bleeps and bubbles, but all in all I dont mind since I do not inted to use it for dirty resonace and rumbling basses. this is really more of a lead, string and pad synth, and one of the best sounding out there if you ask me.
