The drum shell is a hybrid of 16 layers of maple, surrounded by four layers of walnut on both sides. Maple produces a very warm sound and walnut makes the sound very deep and bassy. The combination of the two woods creates a balanced basic sound. The thickness of the shell of a total of 24 layers of wood additionally contributes to a very dry and crisp punch.
