The Yamaha HS 8 is an active near-field studio monitor. It comes with the legendary WhiteCone loudspeakers, which already helped the Yamaha NS10 monitor become world-famous. The HS 8 has a 2-way bass reflex bi-amplified system with an 8" woofer and a 1" tweeter. With its 120 Watt, the Yamaha HS 8 is the ideal speaker for home recording and smaller project studios. But it has even found its way into professional studios and mobile workstations as a secondary monitor. The Yamaha HS 8 studio monitor is not only visually reminiscent of its predecessor, but just like the latter, it has what it takes to be a reference monitor. You will hardly find a more precise active monitor in this price range.
The Yamaha HS 8 at a glance:
Active 2-way bass-reflex near-field monitor
8'' cone woofer
1'' dome tweeter
Frequency range 38 Hz - 30 kHz
75W-LF- plus 45W-HF bi-amp system for 120W power amplification
Room control and High-trim EQ
XLR and jack inputs for balanced and unbalanced signals

These are really great monitors. Amazing frequency response from 38 HZ to 30 KHz. Very clear sound throughout the spectrum. Very good low end so if you buy these speakers you will not need the sub. If you get HS7 i would suggest you get the sub also. Mainly after one month with these speakers i can honestly say that my mixes were cut short by half of the time because now its so easy to identify what needs to be corrected. I wish i had bought those earlier! :)
Unmatched in their price bracket. you wont need anything else until youre convinced you need something in the ¢1000 to ¢2000 price range, which for me wont be for a very very long time, the pros use these, albums get written on them, says it all. Great response across the audio spectrum.
Out of the 2-3 other monitors in this price range, this one is by far the best in my opinion and millions of other people on online forums like gearslutsz.com.
The mids are clean and cutting, the bass goes down deep to the club frequencies of 43 Hz nicely and punchy. the highs are truly sparkling.
You can find these monitors in professional studios and is designed by the same person who designed the legendary ns10 Yamaha monitors.
