In order for the acoustic guitar to produce a balanced yet powerful tone, the mid-sized Grand Auditorium body consists of a solid spruce top and a laminated mahogany body. With the help of internal bracing, this combination develops warm bass, midrange and precise treble frequencies that are quick and cover a wide area. At the same time, the 5-piece mahogany neck with ebony inserts promises comfortable playability across all 20 frets set into a sturdy HPL fingerboard.
The compensated bridge inlay and the 43 mm wide bone nut ensure clean intonation of the strings, which can be easily and precisely tuned with the help of the black Fame die-cast tuners. Peter Maffay's signature in the form of a filigree inlay sits enthroned between the tuners, perfectly matching the mother-of-pearl binding of the unique headstock. In addition, the headstock is equipped with a Peter Maffay custom truss rod cover.
The top is made of solid spruce to generate a clear and balanced sound. Spruce wood is ideally suited for constructing high-quality musical instruments due to its fine grain and superior sound characteristics. Below the soundhole is the initial "M" in white colour, which tastefully contrasts the matte black colouring of the body. The top is bordered by a delicate, multi-layered rosewood binding, which perfectly matches the rosewood bridge and the delicate, light-coloured soundhole rosette. and to protect the top wood from scratches, a vast checkerboard is positioned below the soundhole.
The back and sides are made of mahogany to enrich the bass frequencies with a warm note. The extra thinly layered material harmonizes excellently with the solid top wood, so there is no need to fear any sound loss. Thus, the guitar gains substance in the bass and midrange even with a light touch of the strings and produces a broad sound carpet in a rapid response. The individual components of the back of the body are also bordered by wooden bindings so that the overall appearance turns out very coherent and premium.
To round out the Peter Maffay Signature model in terms of functionality, an extensive custom pickup system is built into the body. Through the pressure that the strings exert on the bridge inlay and the piezo element underneath, the acoustic sound of the acoustic guitar is picked up directly and passed on to the amplifier. In addition, the output signal can be individually adjusted via three top-mounted potentiometers. Thus, the overall volume, bass and treble frequencies can be adjusted. The active system is powered by a 9V block battery, which is located in a battery compartment in the bottom frame.
A specially designed label is glued into the sound hole of the guitar, which depicts the silhouette of Peter Maffay as well as his autograph.
