The Fender Player II Mustang RW Cactus Gray represents the legendary ‘Student’ model from 1964 as part of the Player II Series and, of course, offers all the benefits of the agile offset classic. The slim body design, combined with the shortened 24-inch scale length, ensures silky-smooth playability, whilst the dual-pickup configuration delivers a range of suitable sounds. A particular highlight is the choice of tried-and-tested and fresh new colour finishes, guaranteed to turn heads, whilst modernised hardware adds extra functionality to the classic Mustang.

With its Player Series Alnico V single-coil pickups and short 24-inch scale length, the Fender Player II Mustang RW Cactus Grey delivers first-class sounds and an excellent playing feel.

Comfortable offset alder body & 24-inch short-scale neck

The Fender Player II Mustang derives its unique charm from its distinctive construction. This combines a particularly compact offset body made from solid alder with a bolt-on maple neck and a shortened 24-inch scale length, ensuring that not only are chords comfortable to play, but bends are also particularly easy to execute. On the back, the neck features a slim Modern C neck profile, which ensures a comfortable playing feel for the fretting hand and, thanks to the satin-finished neck back, makes position changes extremely comfortable on the rosewood fingerboard fitted with 22 medium-jumbo frets.

Player Series Alnico V Single Coils

Unlike the classic Mustang, the Player II Mustang RW Cactus Gray features a particularly straightforward electronics layout that provides the right sound options at all times. A three-position toggle switch is provided to select between the two Fender Player Series Alnico V Mustang single-coil pickups; this switch activates the pickups either individually or together, delivering the Mustang’s wide range of tonal options. In addition, the Fender Player II Mustang RW Cactus Grey features a shared volume control and a tone control for smooth treble roll-off.
